As we look ahead to a new year of travel, 2026 is shaping up to be an extraordinary one for hotel openings. Several of my favorite brands — Four Seasons, Six Senses, Banyan Tree, Mandarin Oriental, Rocco Forte, Aman and Capella — are debuting properties across Europe, Africa, Mexico and Asia. Below are just a sneak peek of a few that I’m most excited to share with you.
Set beside the Bacalar Chico National Park & Marine Reserve, Caye Chapel will be the first Four Seasons private-island resort in the region (pictured above). Overwater bungalows — the first in the Western Hemisphere — will offer direct access to Belize’s brilliant reef systems, along with world-class dining, an 18-hole golf course and a nature-forward spa. Opening in the second half of 2026.
Located in Kyoto’s historic Miyagawa-chō district, Capella Kyoto (pictured below) will showcase this region’s cultural heritage and the artistic blending of machiya architecture with modern artistry. Highlights include private onsen rooms, a subterranean waterfall spa, courtyards and panoramic top-floor suites overlooking Yasaka Pagoda. Cappella Kyoto is available to book in the spring of 2026.
The Mandarin Oriental Punta Negra in Mallorca will be a glamorous new Mediterranean escape overlooking Puerto Portals. Expect Nobu Matsuhisa dining, Dani Garcia’s steakhouse concept, serene sandy-toned suites and sweeping views of Mallorca’s breathtaking coastline. Booking is open beginning in July.
Six Senses London, the brand’s first UK property will reimagine The Whiteley, London’s beautifully restored historic department store. Expect a forward-thinking wellness spa with cryotherapy, biohacking, an indoor pool, plunge pools and a British-herb Alchemy Bar. The hotel will also debut Six Senses Place, a private social club for hotel guests and members. Reservations are available beginning in April.
If any of these new openings has you feeling as excited as I am, let’s make plans to get you to your dream destination!
This past spring, I checked a major box on my bucket travel list when Steve and I visited the Galapagos Islands. There was a lot of hype for this trip and it lived up to every bit of it!
We cruised 556.5 nautical miles around six of the larger and a few smaller islands, glimpsing amazing wildlife like the blue-footed booby, sea lion pups, penguins, marine iguanas, sea turtles and more!
Being in the Galapagos felt like we were at the end of the world, with landscapes as extreme as the wildlife we encountered. I highly recommend this trip and know it is an experience I will never forget!
